Day 1: Variables, Data Types & Expressions
Unit 1 • 15-25%Today’s Focus
- Primitive types:
int,double,boolean - Variable declaration and initialization
- Arithmetic operators:
+-*/% - Integer division truncates (
5/2= 2) - Operator precedence (PEMDAS applies)
int x = 5/2; stores 2, not 2.5. To get a decimal result, cast first: (double) 5 / 2 gives 2.5. Also: 1/2 = 0, not 0.5.Self-Check: Can you answer these without looking?

What if I’m starting with less than 4 weeks?
Focus on the units with the highest exam weight: Unit 2 (25-35%) and Unit 4 (30-40%). Skip to Week 2, then jump to Week 4. We also offer a 2-Week Cram Kit for compressed timelines.
Is this the same as the free Cram Sheet?
No. The Cram Sheet is a quick-reference card — it tells you WHAT’s on the exam. This kit tells you exactly WHAT TO STUDY and WHEN, with a day-by-day schedule, 224 practice problems, diagnostic assessment, and FRQ boot camp.
What format is it?
You get a downloadable PDF (works on any device, printable) plus access to the online version with clickable practice links.
Is this updated for the 2025-2026 curriculum changes?
Yes. This kit uses the new 4-unit structure, includes Scanner/File topics, covers recursion tracing (not writing), and reflects that FRQ #3 is ArrayList only. Inheritance, polymorphism, extends, and super are NOT included because they were removed from the exam.
