How this page works
The writing boxes below are yours. What you type stays in this browser, is saved here as you go, and is never sent to us or to your teacher. Hand the written work in the way your teacher asked for it.
The graded check at the bottom is the part that records to your teacher's gradebook.
The cases, from your handoutNot recorded
The same cases as your handout, in the same order.
Scenario 1 · Foundational
An author has finished a 900-page novel and must email the manuscript to an editor tonight, but the attachment is over the mail server's size limit. Every character of the manuscript must arrive exactly as written - the editor's contract requires the submitted text to be the text. Recommend a compression approach.
What matters most in this context (perfect reconstruction vs. size/time):
Compression choice (lossless or lossy) + the trade-off accepted:
Enrichment - which data shrinks most, and why (redundancy):
Scenario 2 · Core
A school is live-streaming its graduation ceremony to relatives overseas on a weak uplink connection. During a test run, the full-quality stream kept freezing and dropping out. Families care that the stream keeps moving in real time; nobody will study individual frames. Recommend a compression approach.

Scenario 3 · Challenge
A student's phone storage is nearly full. Two things are eating the space: a folder of scanned legal documents for a family court case (the lawyer says every page must remain exact), and about 2,000 vacation photos the student browses on the phone screen. One compression setting will not fit both. Recommend a complete plan.

About the line in your handout
Your handout says this exercise is available online and auto-graded. The exercise IS here, and it is the same work in the same order, but the auto-graded half is not written for this topic yet. Nothing on this page is scored or sent to your teacher.
Hand this in the way your teacher asked for it. Topic 1.1 has its graded check today, and the rest follow.
