How this page works

The writing boxes below are yours. What you type stays in this browser, is saved here as you go, and is never sent to us or to your teacher. Hand the written work in the way your teacher asked for it.

The graded check at the bottom is the part that records to your teacher's gradebook.

The cases, from your handoutNot recorded

The same cases as your handout, in the same order.

Scenario 1 · Foundational

Pine Ridge, a town of 900 in a mountain valley, has cell coverage on one hilltop and no wired provider at all. Students park outside the gas station in the evening to use its Wi-Fi for homework, and the clinic cannot offer video appointments. Median income in Pine Ridge matches the state average. Diagnose the gap and prescribe who should act.

Characteristic driving the gap (socioeconomic, geographic, demographic, between countries):

Who could act (individual, organization, government) + the concrete action:

Enrichment - sub-type of divide (availability, affordability, skills, quality):

Scenario 2 · Core

In the city of Harborview, every block is served by three competing providers, yet the school district's survey shows a third of households rely on phone-only plans. The map of phone-only homes matches the map of lowest household incomes almost exactly. A council member argues the survey must be wrong, since 'the whole city is wired.' Diagnose the gap and answer the council member.

Characteristic driving the gap (socioeconomic, geographic, demographic, between countries):

Who could act (individual, organization, government) + the concrete action:

Enrichment - sub-type of divide (availability, affordability, skills, quality):

Scenario 3 · Core

An international education nonprofit runs the same online curriculum in two partner schools. In Country A, 95% of students have home broadband and the class forum is busy every night. In Country B, 12% of homes are connected; students copy lessons by hand from one shared computer, and none of them have ever posted to the forum where the curriculum gets revised. Diagnose the gap and state what the forum detail proves.

Characteristic driving the gap (socioeconomic, geographic, demographic, between countries):

Who could act (individual, organization, government) + the concrete action:

Enrichment - sub-type of divide (availability, affordability, skills, quality):

Scenario 4 · Challenge

Westbrook Towers is a subsidized apartment complex where the city already pays for free gigabit service in every unit and a local charity donated a laptop to each household. Sign-in data shows most residents over 70, and several families who recently immigrated and are still learning English, almost never connect. The city calls the project 'done.' Audit that claim.

Who could act (individual, organization, government) + the concrete action:

Enrichment - sub-type of divide (availability, affordability, skills, quality):

About the line in your handout

Your handout says this exercise is available online and auto-graded. The exercise IS here, and it is the same work in the same order, but the auto-graded half is not written for this topic yet. Nothing on this page is scored or sent to your teacher.

Hand this in the way your teacher asked for it. Topic 1.1 has its graded check today, and the rest follow.
